For a many years I own a Raspberry Pi 4 and use it for Home Assistant domotica.

Problem with it is that once in couple of weeks the Pi does not respond anymore:
  • - Pinging the Pi keeps working
    - can't connect SSH (Connection reset by peer)
    - can't connect with VNC
    - Docker (agent) goes offline
    - Home Assistant website can't be reached (website sometimes gives )
    - Z-Wave dongle is flashing rapidly
    - Green LED on Pi turns on each 2 seconds or so. Red is ON.
    - Ethernet is flashing normally on network traffic.
I have also installed a shutdown button to shutdown/restart (dtoverlay=gpio-shutdown,gpio_pin=3) but does not work either when Pi is not responding.

Once a week i'm creating a backup with image-backup. Before that i'm bring Home Assistant container down.

Only last solution is to pull the power and connect.
Can't figure it out why the Pi 'hangs'.

Information:
  • - Raspbian 11 (bullseye) and works headless
    - 120GB Kinston SSD
    - Docker:
    • - Home-Assistant Core
      - zwave-js-ui
      - portainer_agent
      - govee2mqtt
      - watchtower
      - portainer
Attached USB devices:
  • - SSD
    - RFXCOM RFXtrx 443MHz
    - USB hub with:
    • - Z-Wave Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5
      - Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus
dmesg seems only give messages from boot and up.
Don't know if i can get more information on when Pi hangs.

Final toughts is to give reboot Pi each week or so to prevend this but don't know if this works.

Hope someone can give some help to know why Pi hangs. Thanks.
