I plan to have a RPi 5 together with a RPi DAC Pro (https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/dac-pro/) with Moode (https://moodeaudio.org/) with CamillaDSP running to use as a Bluetooth speaker/ Spotify connect device.
I also like to use for example PeppyMeter (https://github.com/project-owner/PeppyMeter) to have VU meters on a connected display and some Neopixel devices for light effects.
I read in a documentation that there are some challenges with this, first of all to loopback the audio when CamillaDSP is running on the same device to use as input for the VU-meter/LEDs, secondly that there are changes in the GPIOs for RPi 5 that makes it difficult to use WS281x LED devices.
So the solution could be to have a second RPi4 for the VU/light effects. Does anyone know of a similar project or how this can be done? Could they be connected for example via i2s so that the RPi5 is an i2s master and the RPi4 is a slave to just listen and control the effects based on incoming audio?
