Beginners • RTL8188ETV on pi Zero running Bookworm

I've been trying to get a RTL8188ETV wireless adaptor working on pi Zero running Bookworm.
On a fresh install a RTL8188CU works but the RTL8188ETV does not.
The driver used is 8192CU but this seems to be blacklisted '/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-8192cu.conf'
On a hunch I deleted this file. The RTL8188ETV now works! The driver used is now 81xxxu.
Can some one explain to me in simple terms why this works?
