I am looking for some advice on how to accomplish an idea I am trying to realize. I work in a kindergarten (kids aged 3-6), and we are planning on doing a project on the planets this fall. I am trying to build a "spaceship cockpit" with a screen, buttons, a speaker and a camera module. The buttons will start different effects that will enrich the kids' play. One button will start a countdown to liftoff, another will start a video of a rocket launching, and so on.
All this I have been able to make work just as planned. What I am struggling with is what I want to use the camera module for. I am going to print images of all 8 planets in the solar system, and on the back I want to have a QR code or barcode that the kids can scan to watch a video on the planet they have chosen to learn more about. Is this even possible? Can a scanned QR or bar code initiate a command like "cvlc /home/pi/planets/Saturn.mp4"? Any tips that may point me in the right direction would be highly appreciated!
