Hello all,
I am new here. I am looking to make a touchscreen GUI for a project car I am wrapping up. It did not have heat or AC, so I am retrofitting that all in, and would like to design a touchscreen into the dash that can control relays for this purpose as well as some lighting, and ideally a media player "app". I will need a relay for the electric compressor I will be using, as well as one for a solenoid valve (for the flow of hot anti-freeze to the heater core on a call for heat). Naturally, there will be a blower motor that will need to run on either a call for heat or cool, so the "button" to turn on AC will have to energize 2 relays and the "button" to turn on heat will as well. Lastly I will need a 3 or 4 way switch to toggle through blower speeds (Using my imagination, I can likely achieve this by switching in resistors). It's a very large vehicle so it may be nice to have some dimmable lighting up front as well as in the 2nd and 3rd row seating.
What I want, is to power the Pi from key on and for it to immediately boot to the GUI. This should ideally be a "homescreen" of sorts where you can select from either "Climate Control," "Media," or "Lighting" (with the ability to back out of any of those screens back to the home page). My thought was to do this with offline web pages, as I know I can make that look nice. I hoped maybe a "smarthome" template might exist that I can use to get off the ground. What I have purchased was a Raspberry Pi 4 and the official 7" Touchscreen.
Google searches weren't getting me anywhere (especially regarding serving offline webpages, which I thought would be very straight-forward), so I signed up here. Been looking at a couple of posts (one fellow's project for his Jeep for example) but haven't found anything too close. If anyone can share their thoughts, or point me to posts they think are relative etc., I would be much appreciative!
