Raspberry Pi OS • M.2 HAT - something seems odd in the drivers

I'm testing some NVMe drives if they are supported on the official M.2 HAT+ and/or pimoroni NVMe base.

Initially didn't wanted to post my findings here until open questions related to M.2 HAT support are answered, but todays finding looks like some bigger issue.

DUT is an 8GB Pi5 with official M.2 HAT+. The HAT has received an upgrade to accept 2280 size drives.NVMe under test is a WD blue SN550 with 500GB.
Said drive should be identical to SanDisk SDSSDH3N-500G-G25 (they look the same, PCB rooting/component placing is the same/media says the are the same just marketed under different brands after WD bought SanDisk).

First finding: SanDisk NVMe is NON-working, WD NVMe IS working, but: something is odd!

'sudo lspci -vvv' reports the drive incorrectly:
