Using Pi imager I installed Pi OS 64 Lite directly onto an SSD and changed the Pi to boot from this.
I then tried to use parted to resize the root partiton and ended up with something that would not boot.
Today I started again, re-installed PI OS and installed Xwindows to allow me to use Gparted.
It tells me the minimum root partition size is the entire SSD and refuses to let me resize it. I assume it won't let me change this as the disk is mounted, but it won't let me unmount it. It says it is in use but I thought once the operating system had booted it would let me do this. Claearly I was wrong!
I feel I am going round in circles!
Is there a way to get Pi Imager to install PI OS but not use the entire SSD? If not, this seems rather dumb! Am I missing something?
I've looked in raspi-config and there only seems to be an option to resize the root system to use an entire SD card.
All I am trying to do is save the first 64GB for Pi OS and use the rest of the SSD for music files. If I were installing Linux on a PC I know how to do this but on the Pi I'm totally lost.
Maybe I'm being stupid but it seems as if this should be easy! If it's not then what is the point of having an SSD?
I would have tried PiCorePlayer but as well as LMS I want to install another music server program.
Please can someone help me get out of this never ending nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!
